A variant item refers to a product that comes in multiple variations or options, such as size, color, or style. Variant items are typically managed as a single item in the inventory system, with each variation represented as a separate "variant" of the product.
For example, a clothing retailer may sell a t-shirt in different sizes and colors. The t-shirt itself is the "variant item," while the different sizes and colors are the "variants" of the item. Each variant is assigned a unique SKU (stock keeping unit) to help track inventory levels and sales.
Similarly, if a medication tablet (Tablet A) is available in several strengths (50 mg, 100 mg, and 150 mg), then Tablet A should be added as a variation and its strength attribute should be specified with the values 50, 100, and 150. This will let the system to keep Tablet A with numerous characteristics and a unique SKU for each variation.
